About The Center at Heron Hill

The Center at Heron Hill BannerThe Center at Heron Hill is a 60 acre horse farm co-owned by Joyce Korschgen and Robinn Rudd. The property is located within the Oregon woodlands of Canby, and is home to many therapeutic farm animals including: horses, miniature horses, donkeys, goats, pigs, and barn cats.

The Center at Heron Hill offers many nature-based spaces including: hiking trails, fire pits, an archery range, giant tee-pee, creek side settings and a community garden. Activities may include: archery, movement, gardening, interacting with animals, outdoor life skills, nature journaling, art activities, and music. We also have a Children’s Center and indoor offices.

Currently, the Center at Heron Hill houses 2 separate programs: Alliance Counseling Center (a clinic based mental health program) and Journey Wellness (a non-clinic based wellness program).

Mission Statement

The Center at Heron Hill believes strongly in the power of connection with nature for restoring wellness. We have the ability to utilize the skills and expertise of our staff to design and implement mindful activities and therapeutic approaches that encourage self-exploration and the crafting of new personal narratives rooted in metaphors derived from contact with nature.

The land that is now the Center at Heron Hill was originally purchased in 2006 with the intention to become an Arabian horse breeding barn. Joyce and Robinn changed this plan after learning about the breeding and training process of Arabians. Instead, Joyce and Robinn decided to combine their collective professional knowledge and transition The Center at Heron Hill into a place of therapy and wellness. Initially, The Center at Heron Hill worked with the Chemawa Indian High School in Salem. The Chemawa Program coordinated therapy at The Center at Heron Hill with a wrap around school based education program.
