About
Ananda Gear (they/she) is a clinical mental health counseling graduate student at Antioch University, where they focus on social justice-oriented and multicultural approaches to therapy. They have pursued specialized coursework in ecotherapy, gender-affirming therapy, and counseling marginalized populations. Additionally, Ananda has completed advanced training and earned a certificate in nature-based therapy.
Grounded in experiential, narrative, and relational approaches, Ananda views therapy as a collaborative, nonjudgmental space where individuals can heal, grow, and cultivate deeper self-understanding and self-compassion. Authenticity and an empathic presence are central to their practice.
With a background as a middle and high school teacher, Ananda is passionate about supporting adolescents and young adults, particularly those within the LGBTQIA+ community. They also work with pregnant and postpartum individuals as they navigate the transition into parenthood, as well as those further along in their parenting journey. Across all ages, Ananda is especially interested in helping clients through life transitions, perfectionism, grief, anxiety, depression, climate anxiety, and self-image concerns.
Outside of their work, Ananda enjoys hammock camping, soaking in hot springs, and exploring nature with their partner and 8-year-old child. Indoors, they can often be found crafting—always with more creative projects than hours in the day—alongside their beloved cat.
