About
Rachel (aka Ray) came to Heron Hill in November of 2025. Until then, she spent her licensed career (licensed in 2016) helping Indigenous people while working for the Confederated Tribes of Siletz Indians. She is a Licensed Professional Counselor who starts from a Person-Centered Therapy model and adds in other modalities as indicated by the people she works with. Her other modalities include equine-assisted psychotherapy (using horses in therapy), archery, animal assisted therapy, nature based therapy, Brainspotting, Gottman-style couples counseling, mindfulness, self-compassion, and experiential therapy. Rachel is new to equine therapy, but enjoys offering this modality and became certified in EAGALA in May of 2026.
Rachel has many years of experience in the mental health world, working with many different populations starting in 1999 with direct care work serving people with severe and persistent mental illness, working as a school counselor at an alternative high school, and spending a lot of time with tribal members helping them work through generational trauma, and other sources of complex trauma.
Rachel is open to working with any age group, but enjoys spending her time with youth and watching them find their spark in life and establish healthy relationships with their loved ones and peers. During the school year, Rachel enjoys spending her Saturdays working with students from the Chemawa Indian School.
