About Katie
Katie (she/her) is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker passionate about helping children, teens, young adults, and families foster self-awareness, connection, and healing through nature-based and animal-assisted therapies. Drawing on various approaches such as Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), Child-Parent Psychotherapy (CPP), Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (TF-CBT), and equine therapy through the Equine Assisted Growth and Learning Association (EAGALA), Katie blends traditional therapeutic techniques with experiential learning to guide clients on their journey of growth. Katie earned her Master’s in Clinical Social Work from the University of Washington in Seattle, following a Bachelor’s degree in Health & Psychology from Texas A&M University.
Approach
Katie believes in the innate ability of every person to heal and grow, even in the face of challenges, when equipped with the right tools and support. As a social worker, Katie brings a client-centered, systems-oriented perspective to therapy. She understands that lasting change often occurs when we address the broader context of a person’s life, including their relationships, community and the systems that may affect them. With a diverse background in various therapeutic modalities, Katie helps clients cultivate mindfulness and self-awareness, empowering them to create sustainable change in their lives. She approaches each client with a trauma-informed, strengths-based perspective and strives to build a trusting, collaborative therapeutic relationship. Katie utilizes the natural environment, including animals, to encourage reflection and insight on what clients are experiencing in their everyday life.
Areas of Focus
Katie specializes in working with children, teens, young adults, and families, particularly in areas such as anxiety, depression, trauma, self-harm, suicide ideation, identity exploration, emotional regulation, and other challenges faced by preteens and teens.
Outside of Work
When not working Katie enjoys spending time with her dog, hiking, by the ocean, thrifting or traveling.
