About
Laurel Starr is a Clinical Social Work Associate in Oregon. She holds a master's degree in social work with a Clinical Certificate and a bachelor’s degree in Peace and Justice Studies with a focus on education. She is trained in EMDR and EAGALA equine-assisted psychotherapy and has earned an Advanced Training Certificate in Ecotherapy from Pacifica Graduate Institute, along with completing a 10-day Somatic Ecotherapy Immersion for Professionals program.
Laurel’s therapeutic approach is grounded in the belief that individuals are the experts of their own lives. She sees therapy as a collaborative process that creates a compassionate and nurturing space for clients to reconnect with their internal wisdom and resources, empowering them to navigate their own path toward healing and growth. Drawing from a variety of modalities, including IFS parts-work, Somatic approaches, Non-Violent Communication, neurobiology, and nature-based mindfulness practices, Laurel tailors her work to meet the unique needs of each individual.
Before pursuing her graduate degree, Laurel spent over a decade working in outdoor adventure and education, both in the United States and abroad. Outside of her professional life, she enjoys surfing, gardening, and diving into a good book.
