Counseling Intern
Profile
About
Zak Borden is currently pursuing his master’s degree in clinical mental health counseling at Adams State University and has completed additional training as a solution-focused coach. His approach is inspired by ecotherapy, parts work (IFS), mindfulness, and existential-humanistic therapy. Zak brings to counseling decades of experience working with all ages as a teacher of musicianship and songwriting. From a very early age, his two great loves have been creativity and the natural world. Zak has personally experienced the immense power these factors offer for healing, growth, and inner strength. He is honored and excited to be working in this capacity at Heron Hill.
Zak believes that all clients come to counseling with a unique story and lived experience that should be treated with careful listening, collaboration, and respect. Working alongside clients to include their inner life, interests, relationships, and the greater natural world, he invites them to explore greater possibilities for wholeness, health, and flexibility. In his free time, Zak loves to hike, paddle, meditate, and play music.
